“I had an idea of what consulting was, but there was so much more to discover. I knew I could learn, and that made all the difference.”
For most people, career paths follow a predictable trajectory. But for Winold Mbindyo, the road to becoming a highly sought-after consultant was anything but conventional. His journey is defined by bold leaps, relentless determination, and an unwavering commitment to growth.
At Eureka, we celebrate the passionate individuals who drive our work forward and challenge themselves to grow. Today, we spotlight Winold Mbindyo, who embodies this spirit in every way.
Winold began his career in Kenya’s public health system, supporting infectious disease diagnostics. He later contributed to PREDICT, a USAID-funded project to strengthen laboratories for global disease surveillance, biosafety, and the detection of zoonotic diseases. His work included validating Standard Operating Procedures for Kenya’s top 10 Priority Zoonotic Diseases to enhance public health preparedness.
After obtaining his Master’s degree, he expanded his scope by advancing science, public health, and youth engagement through strategic programme development, research, and capacity building. Winold had always dreamed of working for an international nonprofit, and joining Eureka realised that ambition. However, it also felt like stepping into uncharted territory. He recalled, “I had an idea of what consulting entailed, but there was so much more to explore—I never imagined it would become my full-time pursuit.”
In his early years at Eureka, Winold embraced being part of something bigger than himself. He quickly found ways to make a global impact. He familiarized himself with new terminologies, grasped the dynamics of consulting, and navigated project management and implementation. His first project, an HIV self-testing project with the Global Fund, exposed him further and deeper into market access and health diagnostics. He credits much of his early success to the mentorship of senior consultants and the Managing Director, Damian Fuller, who provided guidance every step of the way. He quickly absorbed knowledge of proposal writing, project execution and stakeholder engagement, setting the foundation for his consulting journey.
With the support of Eureka’s collaborative team, Winold transitioned from an eager learner to a confident leader of critical global projects; a defining moment came when he co-led a multi-country health diagnostics project in Latin America as an assistant program manager.
Winold thrives in managing high-impact projects that demand strategic thinking, collaboration, and deep industry expertise. Working alongside seasoned experts with decades of experience, he confidently approaches each challenge—drawing from his prior knowledge and the strong foundation provided by Eureka. He rises to challenges with high stakes and even higher expectations, leveraging his team’s guidance, continuous learning, and unwavering commitment to excellence to navigate complexities and drive meaningful results.
One of Winold’s most impactful contributions was co-leading the ‘Willingness to Pay Survey,’ which examined the accessibility of Continuous Glucose Monitoring Devices in South Africa and Kenya. The report was published, marking a milestone in his career in market access research. A moment he describes as a personal and professional milestone.“Delivering a publicly available report was surreal. It reinforced the value of our work at Eureka.”
Currently, he is part of a WHO project, with another publication on the horizon shaping policies and frameworks that will have a lasting impact. Winold is now a trusted expert in global health consulting—helping drive real change in diagnostics and healthcare access. His ability to lead, adapt, and collaborate across borders has made him invaluable to Eureka and his colleagues.

Despite his demanding schedule, Winold prioritizes work-life balance. A passionate football player, he hits the football field multiple times a week to unwind, refresh his mind and keep focus. He also finds joy in singing as he joins his local church choir, which keeps him connected to his community. For Winold, being a consultant isn’t just about work—it’s about impact, adaptability, and lifelong learning.
