At Eureka Idea Co., our team consists of individuals whose unique journeys fuel innovation and transformation. Today, the spotlight shines on Mahlet Tadesse Admasu, a medical doctor turned consultant whose story is anything but ordinary.

Mahlet’s desire for a broader impact led her away from the clinic and into global health. As a trained medical doctor, she initially set her sights on clinical practice. However, a more profound passion for global health and system-level impact led her to manage and implement health projects in Ethiopia, such as coordinating responses to humanitarian emergencies, Comprehensive HIV/AIDS responses, and strengthening organizational management in her role as manager of a national non-governmental organization.

From there, she ventured into managing digital health projects at Opian Health as a program manager, using data-driven solutions for efficient health care management before pursuing a master’s in Global Health at the University of Global Health Equity, Rwanda, focusing on One Health.

Joining Eureka gave her the opportunity to redefine her career. “I applied, thinking it was just another job, but it became more.” What began as a role quickly became a purpose, driven by proffering sustainable solutions to complex challenges and meaningful projects.

For Mahlet, one standout experience at Eureka was co-leading the WHO HIV RDT rapid diagnostic test market landscape. “Taking over as project manager from someone amazing was intimidating,” she recalls. The project came with high expectations and a relentless deadline. “It was one of the toughest things I have done but also the most rewarding,” she reflects. The outcome resulted in a comprehensive landscape report promoted by the WHO. This marked a career milestone for her and proved that resilience and teamwork can move mountains. Other projects she has worked on include helping the Africa CDC define their One Health Strategy.

While consulting demands technical expertise, Mahlet emphasizes the power of people skills. “It’s easy when everyone gets along,” she says. “The challenge is when perspectives clash, and tensions rise.” One of her biggest lessons is managing expectations, and Damian Fuller (Eureka’s managing director) always says, “Set the scene early—define roles, deadlines, and deliverables up front.” It sounds simple, but it prevents so much conflict. One of Mahlet’s biggest lessons was maintaining good relationships while delivering results, recognising that the work must continue even when dynamics get tricky.

Outside of her professional life, Mahlet enjoys spending quality time with her family and friends. These shared bonds keep her grounded, no matter how demanding work can be. She loves hiking with her husband, an adventurer at heart.

Another passion of hers is self-defense. “I’m definitely not an expert, but I love it,” she shares. “It’s about discipline, pushing  through limits, and growing stronger—mind and body.

Mahlet is excited about expanding her expertise in One Health, digital health, and using consulting as a vehicle for impact. “Eureka offers room for growth, experimentation, and taking on projects that matter,” she says. “At the end of the day, it’s about driving change, which keeps me motivated.”

Mahlet’s journey reminds us that success isn’t just about where you start—it’s about the bold choices you make.
